FOLLOWER OF CHRIST
A long journey that started with the birth of a boy; Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ born on Christmas day. His first followers were called Nazarenes; as in the narrative of his passion ‘who are you looking for’? -’Jesus the Nazarene’.
Lutherans, Anglicans, Pentecostals, Protestants, Baptists, Jews, Gentiles, Samaritans, Catholics.
I started my journey with Christ as a kid in my home parish Bayelle where I attended school, mass and cadet meetings as a micro-Catholic. All these functions took place in the mission compound; I mean the church yard. Sisters of the Holy Rosary were taking us through lessons about Christ. As a cadet group we joined the other groups to cheer the Pope and President who visited our region at the Bafut Airport. We sang Christmas Carols in our community, we also buried Reverend Bernadette who fell ill and died in Cameroon. The mother superior Reverend Augustine later packed back with the others to Ireland their homeland.
The British personify land to natives like Britain-British; Ireland-Irish; Scotland-Scottish; England-English; Wales-Welsh. When I was a little older I moved on to Lourdes where still the Holy Rosary sisters from Ireland offered us sound doctrine about the church, the Bible and the like. We used to study the Bible for our Religious knowledge certificates a diploma that takes us no where; just provides morality as a way to go all the time after all honesty is the best policy and charity begins at home.
People come one by one in their numbers to worship God, an assembly. An Ecclesial function-religion and spirituality. Be the best you can be!
