Western colonialism, a political-economic phenomenon whereby various European nations explored, conquered, settled and exploited large areas of the world. The world is made of seven continents, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australia. Colonialism was predominantly a thing that took place in the past, after the second world war, it is rooted in African history where almost all countries have a colonial master who supervised the transition to independence and post independence they still have agreements together with their colonies.

The major colonial powers were Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and Portugal, colonialism is the policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically.

The darkest days of British history, ancient colonialism has stained the history, Britain has had a name in oppressive history which has touched many in western cultures and in our continent where we hear of the “scramble for Africa” and today they look for better future negotiations for common ground of all such as with the common wealth nations. The British overseas territories also known as the United Kingdom overseas territories are over ten territories all with a constitutional link with the United Kingdom.

The colonial masters all had the practice to take control of the people and the areas they acquired with the aim of economic dominance , in the process of colonization, colonizers may impose their religion, language, economics, currencies and cultural practices so that they have an edge over the mental, spiritual and financial stand of the people. Colonization refers to large scale population movements where the migrants maintain strong links with their former country gaining significant privileges over the inhabitants of the territory by such links.
