INDOMITABLE CADET
Cadet as the word is commonly used will mean a younger son or daughter of a family that is a junior branch of a family. Cadet-officers, they are 18 -21 and undergo an apprenticeship program during which they are paid while they decide their police career; after this period they go through a transition into the full-time job of officers. Cadet scouts are very young and are typically in the primary level of education as they go outdoors, camping selling cookies and the like; last week the active cadet girls sang very well the mass at the church where I worship. Cadet (junior) indomitable lions, the under-17 Lions do their training in their camping grounds in order to play under-17 African Nations Cup and others of the class; the Lion is the king of the beasts. Cadet of Mary, Mary is Queen and Christ is king of angels: cadets of Mary are trained by the older branch of the family the path to take to keep –up their interests in the vocation of family life. Trainees gain more knowledge over time and improve until they mature in their family.
As a cadet of Mary we learn Bible stories like boy Jesus in the temple, shepherds and the angel when we go for meetings and we participate in functions of the church through advice from elderly trained church people.
The Holy Rosary convent is a congregation of Irish origin that was 30–40 years ago but today some Cameroonian black sisters have joined this congregation. I liked the sisters in my parish Bayelle but they left for Ireland and the end of my primary school; coincidentally those of my secondary school packed and left at the end of my secondary school education.’ I like to be a Rev Sister because I want to share communion to people in church’. That is what I told my family when asked why I admire such a vocation; honestly I was very small to choose a career during that Cadet of Mary years. While in the Franciscan convent in Wum Menchum-Division where my family asked me to try and see if I will end like a reverend sister; I used to cry too much because I was not able to love the activities of the convent. I felt lonely and wrong about such a choice until the Superior sent me back home to my beloved family. I had to pray in my room alone all the time; nobody shared my room and I had to prepare meals for the entire convent which was done in very large pots.
Cadets join the Catholic women association for festivals in the church and religious feasts. We do singing, pinning rosettes, serving at T-parties, draws at bazaars, welcome and/or assist other parishes’ cadet groups, games. We go along other groups to attend the Pope’s mass when he comes visiting our Region. We sing Christmas carols in our community when it is advent. Mom is one of the founders for Catholic women’s association.
Material things we enjoy are sweets, cakes, money attached to our participation
