OMICRON VARIANT OF COVID-19
The fourth wave of the pandemic is at hand with an increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations from the virus, the new variant first seen in Africa has been detected in 23 countries around the world already; this pandemic has seen rising numbers due to the fact that people stay away from their vaccination as recommended. People have refused to implement the roll out of vaccination as recommended by the WHO which is the only tool to keep all safe from the virus that is why it is changing and causing havoc, governments must make it compulsory for all citizens, it must be mandatory to achieve the desired outcome.
Omicron is the new variant of the virus that causes COVID-19, the world health organization declared it a “variant of concern on 26 November 2021, it was first reported in South Africa on 24 November 2021 and is quickly becoming the dominant variant there. The COVID-19 omicron variant has disrupted air travel, leaving thousands of travelers stranded, the travel band has been imposed due to this discovery, this is hampering the smooth functioning of the economics of the nation, touristic sites and activities in the domain have lost the boom and steam of this festive season.
