THE BREAKING OF BREAD

Celebrate the Eucharist, Holy Communion means that we are one in spirit, the body of Christ, Christ the corner stone, the stone that the builders rejected became the corner stone, to pay the ransom, to pay the price for the poor sinner. All valuables have a price tag, like bride price a rite of passage, so to this effect his-own blood has to spill for you & me. Spiritual communion is something to grasp at and to cherish because having partaken of the meal in memory of the last supper we are like him; through his sacrificial offering of his life saving blood we have won eternal life.

In this season of advent, the mass is joyful, with beautiful hymns; the mass is the main Eucharistic liturgical service in many forms of western Christianity like the Catholic and Lutheran churches where I have participated. In simple English, since all countries eat bread, daily bread, for ages it is a symbol of flesh, the body, blood is red the color of cherry red wine so it is a simile. This is the new covenant that seals, the bridegroom Jesus Christ and his bride the church.

The term mass is derived from the ecclesiastical Latin formula for the dismissal of the congregation: “Ite missa est” meaning “Go it is the dismissal”. Sometimes we use the Sunday missal to follow the readings of the Sunday, the church recalls the last supper when Jesus anticipating his imminent death, offered his disciples bread and wine, saying “take this all of you and eat it, for this is my body, which will given up for you” and, “Take this, all of you and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, which will be poured for you and for many” Jesus instructed the disciples to perpetuate this banquet in his memory until his return in glory.

This celebration is meant to deepen our conformity with Christ in heart, mind and soul and to make this mysterious food ultimately heavenly food. Receiving communion means you are a changed person accepting Christ and united with the teachings that go along so the sheepfold becomes one with the shepherd. It is not necessary to receive Holy Communion in order to remember the death of Christ, you can do it personally and spiritually with the tabernacle present at the altar having understood the doctrine. There is also the virtual Eucharistic mass for the people with illness or for those with limitations such as inability to walk.
